Noro on Sale

Noro on Sale

Hi Folks! Just posting a message to let everyone know that I've put my Noro yarns on sale! I carry 4 lines, the relatively chill lines of Tennen and Kumo, and the celebratory fun of Taiyo and Mirai.  All bring that Japanese fiberwork style that stands out. Like all Noro yarns, these have color and texture variation as well as fiber mixes all over the map.  They are all soft and delicate, so they crochet or knit up into beautiful feeling scarves, shawls, blankets, sweaters--you name it!   For sedate color stories check out Tennen and Kumo.  For wild color stories, Taiyo...

Coming Soon--Hazel Rose Looms!!!

Coming Soon--Hazel Rose Looms!!!

Even though things have been quiet on the Girl Friday web site lately, I've have fun stuff brewing behind the scenes! We've developed a relationship with Hazel Rose Looms, and just received our first shipment of them. These are fun pin looms in a variety of sizes and types hand made from beautiful Oak, Maple, Cherry and Walnut.  These looms are almost pieces of art themselves, but they are a great tool that will last. We are starting with 4" multi-looms, which are a direct replacement for the Zoom loom, 7" Quilt Weaver sets, 7" squares, 7" tumbling blocks and...

Advertising & Stitches West 2022

I'm just dipping my big toe into the advertising pond.  I'm trying some yarn-specific ads featuring some of my favorite yarns on Ravelry.  Hopefullly this will bring interested folks to the web site in a way that reaches the target audience without irritating everyone else.  :)  I found the yarn-specific ads to be a good balance.  Not to mention it gets a few bucks flowing to a web site that is awesome for fiber artists. Other good news is that I've put in for my booth at Stitches West 2022 in Sacramento!  I hope it goes well, as we'll need...

Online Business Blues

Well, after doing a LOT of reading online and digging through Shopify documentation, I found out that it's difficult to service smaller overseas customers. (Warning:  This is a long-ish post that will be more interesting to people who like to think about business practices.)   Sure, when I do a bulk order for large boxes of possum yarn from New Zealand, it's only a few percent per ball of yarn because it comes in a relatively large box, and yarn has a somewhat low specific gravity. It's pretty typical for 150 balls of yarn to cost $50 to ship. But...

Malabrigo!

Wow, I'm so excited! I just received my second large shipment of Malabrigo yarns, and I think I have a good mix of product available.  Dos Tierras and Rios are pretty well fleshed out.  Plus, I've made sure to get full sweater quantities of even some yarns that I only expected to be used for shawls and other accessories, because the deeper I dig the more large projects I find that people are making with even the thinnest of yarns. Also, with this shipment I filled in some gaps in color.  There are some colors I'm just not that wild...
